How do I know which lactation supplement is right for me?

Since everyone responds differently to supplements, we often recommend starting with one each so you can discover what works best for you.

How long should I take a supplement?

The duration of product usage varies. Some moms use our products briefly to boost their supply or improve milk flow, while others incorporate them throughout their entire breastfeeding journey.

NOTE: If you have any inquiries about our products or their ingredients, we recommend discussing them with your healthcare provider or IBCLC before using them.

Can I take both Holistic Lactation® supplements at the same time?

Absolutely! You can start by experimenting with one lactation supplement for a period of 7-14 days. Our bodies have distinct physiology, and responses to supplements vary, so trying them individually can help identify the most effective products for you!

If you find one product works, you can add in the other to see additional benefits. Or perhaps one product hasn't been as effective, so you add in the other. It might take a few attempts to find the ideal combination that works for your body.

Are there side effects?

It's crucial to consult your healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen. You can find the list of ingredients on individual product pages.

Since our bodies and health histories vary, reactions to supplement ingredients can differ. Like with any supplement, there's a chance of hypersensitivity or allergy.

Our products contain organic ingredients and are free of additives and ingredients known to be problematic (fenugreek & lecithin), but they contain ingredients that may be new to you and your baby.

NOTE: To ensure safety, it's advisable to discuss the ingredients with your healthcare provider.

Can I take these supplements during pregnancy?

Congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family! While we share in your excitement for the upcoming breastfeeding journey, it's important to note that our products are not intended for use during pregnancy.

If you have concerns of low supply or other lactation complications, a fantastic step forward is to work with a skilled International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Together, you can create a personalized care plan focused on the overall wellness of both you and your baby, providing support for your breastfeeding and parenting goals.

Your IBCLC will be there for you prenatally and postpartum, offering recommendations for supplements, feeding plans, pumping guidance, latching help, and so much more. They can also provide referrals to other healthcare providers as needed, ensuring a positive start to your breastfeeding journey.

Does insurance cover my appointments with you?

Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, lactation care is now covered by most insurance plans. Telehealth appointments are eligible for coverage. To find out what your plan will cover specifically, contact your insurance company directly and ask about your lactation benefits, as well as coverage for out-of-network providers.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

We only offer telehealth appointments. Our clients find that we are able to do everything we’d normally do if we were face-to-face except weigh your baby. We have specialized in virtual care since way before the pandemic and will guide you on the best ways to utilize video before & during our appointment with you.

How do video appointments work?

We provide instructions on sending us any relevant photos and videos before your appointment, as well as completing our intake forms so we have a lot of information by the time we meet. You can use your smartphone, tablet or computer to connect for your appointment. It’s very helpful to have another person nearby to assist with holding the camera. It’s also a good idea to have a flashlight on hand if there’s a possibility we will conduct an oral exam of your baby.

What if I can’t book an appointment with the IBCLC I wanted?

We work as a team at Holistic Lactation. This means when you work with one of our lactation consultants, you work with all of our lactation consultants. Our entire team has experience teaching other lactation professionals, plus decades of collective experience as IBCLCs. This means you get the benefit of multiple lactation consultants when you become a client.

How soon will my order ship after purchase?

dAll orders through our website will process the same day if placed before 11 AM central time, otherwise they will ship the next day (excluding weekends and holidays).

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

While we cannot guarantee shipping times, we are fully aware of the importance of timely delivery for our customers. Our team is dedicated to meeting this demand diligently.*

For standard shipping, you can expect an estimated delivery window of 2-7 business days after fulfillment. Buy With Prime orders ship via Amazon with fast, free delivery and free returns on eligible items.

Does Holistic Lactation® ship outside the United States?

Currently we do not offer international shipping. Please check back periodically to see if this option is available for your country.

How do I track my order?

You can look up your order tracking number in the shipping confirmation email or log in to your account to find tracking info.

How do I cancel my order?

We strive to ship all orders as quickly as possible

If you wish to cancel your order, we will make every effort to assist you, provided that your order hasn't been fulfilled yet.

To request a cancellation, please reach out to us through email at with the subject line "CANCEL ORDER".

Be sure to include your order number and the email address linked to your order to facilitate a smooth process and prevent any delays in processing.

What is your Return Policy?

  • Opened products, including supplements, cannot be returned or refunded.
  • Sale and discounted items are not eligible for returns.
  • Items designated as final sale or non-returnable cannot be returned.
  • All international orders are considered final sale and are not eligible for return.

NOTE: Results for lactation supplements are not guaranteed, given our diverse body physiology and health histories.

To be eligible for a return, please keep the following in mind:

  1. Returns are subject to inspection, and we do not accept items that are damaged, opened, or show signs of use. Please package the items securely to ensure they are protected during transit.
  2. You are responsible for the cost of return shipping. We do not provide return shipping labels.
  3. Please note that original and return shipping fees are non-refundable, except in cases where we made a mistake with your order. If you believe there was an error, please email us at, and we will cover the shipping costs.

After your return is marked delivered to our facility, please allow approximately 14 business days for the return to be posted to your original payment method.

What do I do if my item arrives damaged or defective?

All claims for items damaged or defective upon arrival must be lodged within 7 days from the date the postal carrier marks the item as delivered (delivery date).

Claims submitted beyond this 7-day window are not eligible for return or refund, and no exceptions will be made.

To initiate a claim, please send an email to, providing your order number and a photo of the product, including the Date and Lot Number if applicable. Omitting this information may cause delays in processing.
